Tips on how to grow your Small Group!

The Small Groups Fair is a good introduction to the rest of the church. You probably will have a few people sign up. They may or may not end up visiting! A common mistake Group Leaders make is to rely on the Small Groups Fair or the Small Groups Directory to bring people into the group.

So… how do most people become involved?  I am so glad you asked!

Most people join a group because of a personal invitation and because it meets some need in their life.

Therefore, in order to have a growing group you will need to:

  1. Invite people to your group. Here are some great places to recruit:

  • After the altar call, go into the room where the people who came forward are taken and invite them to your group.
  • Visit New Beginnings 201 on Sunday morning with Pastor Ed. Let him know why you are there so he can promote your group.
  • The New Members gathering with Pastor Brad and Lisa every quarter.
  • Hanging out at the Welcome Center to see people looking for information.
  • On the Saturday of the Encounter weekend, come to the lunch or the closing baptismal and invite people.
  • Your workplace.
  • Your school.
  • Your neighbors.
  • Your family members.
  1. Inform them of how the group can bless them. For example:

  • Discussing interesting subjects.
  • Have fun doing activities together.
  • Strengthen each other through the power of prayer.

We have made up invitation cards for you to use. These are a great tool to invite people throughout the year. These will be available at the fair.

Fell free to call me with any questions you may have. God bless you as you serve in this ministry.
