Leadership flow of The Networks Groups

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."  He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.  Mathew 9:36 – 10:1

Each Pastor has one or more Coach who they work with.  Some of these Coaches will serve the Group Leaders. Each Group Leader will be able to pick which Coach they would like to identify with, as long as it is mutually agreeable. All Group Leaders must be connected to an approved Coach or a Pastor.

Equipping

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be   evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works   of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the   faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the   whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4: 11-13

Equipping and training of leaders will be based on both relationships and instruction. This involves spending time one on one as well as in group sessions.

Coaches instruction:

Instruction will be done by the Pastors for   their Coaches. Pastors Brad and Lisa will   have training times open only to Coaches.   Coaches will also be in the quarterly   sessions with the entire NBCC group   leadership.

  Topics will include:

  Leading groups.

  Common care counseling.

The development and use of spiritual gifts,   including the ‘Charismatic’ gifts.

  Home and hospital visitation.

Follow up of new converts and visitors.

  Developing the ministry of teaching.
  Equipping Relationally

For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 1 Thessalonians 1:4-7

Pastors look at the Coaches as spiritual family; genuinely concerned for their welfare apart from the service they provide the church. These are the people who receive the highest priority of prayer, time, discussion and fellowship activities. The Pastor and Coaches will visit each others homes regularly, as well as visit the groups together. The Coaches will relate to the GPs in the same way.

Equipping with Instruction You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.  2 Timothy 2:1-2

Group Leaders instruction:

A weekend retreat will be held each year that covers basic areas of leading a group. This retreat will also   deal with achieving and maintaining victory in the leader’s personal life. The instruction will be made   available at other times through DVD’s or classes, but all Group Leaders will attend the first possible retreat.

  Topics will include:

  • Attitude of a leader.

  • Spiritual atmosphere.

  • Choosing and developing activities.

  • Choosing and developing curriculum, if needed.

  • Selecting a meeting location.

  • Atmosphere of the meeting location.

  • Promoting attendance and visitors to the group.

  • Relating to leadership
  • .

  • Contacting members.

  • Typical schedule of a meeting (with much flexibility).

  • How to smoothly include prayer and praise.

  • Leading a group discussion.

  • Handling challenging people.

  •   Ongoing personal training will come from the Pastor and Coach as they visit the
groups and spend individual times with them.
Monthly leadership training may be held during Wednesday services. We now
have the first Wednesday for ‘A Night of Worship’. Attendance of all leaders
is encouraged, but not required, as some may be temporarily in other life
impacting classes held on Wednesday (finance, marriage, etc.).

Group types, schedules and locations:

Each group can focus on the topic or activity of their choice, but it must be reviewed and approved by their   leadership Pastor. Not all GL will be qualified to lead every type of group, nor is every topic profitable. The   Pastor and his Coach will help provide ideas and materials as needed.

The groups can schedule whenever they want, though we may restrict Wednesday evening. The weekend   service is repeated twice, so Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings are OK. Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly   are all OK.

The Pastoral team will create special interest groups as we feel they are needed. These may include   marriage, child raising, blended families, overcoming anger, overcoming addictions, divorce recovery,   business topics, Bible studies, etc.

Locations will most often be in homes, but other locations such as work and schools are encouraged. If   space is available, we may want to allow groups at church during service times. All locations must be   approved by the leadership Pastor.

Communications:
Our website is the preferred location for   receiving information and giving reports. The   locations and contacts of all groups will be in   an online directory and a metro area Map   Quest format where location can be easily   located and directions given.

There will be a location at the church for picking up paper copies of information and leaving paper ports. It will be like the old Cell Central and will be for all group leaders. Phone chains will be established through each Pastors team for prayer requests and dispensing information.
